It’s pitch-perfect when presented with an old media idiot. The best response when presented with an idiot is not to try to shut them up. It’s to let them declare their stupidity from the rooftops and then happily point their lunacy out to them.
I don’t have a problem with Google trying to get more equal representation at JSConf, or anywhere else. I applaud it. The homogenous nature of the tech world, especially in smaller niche communities, is disappointing. It becomes a boys club and is much more likely to become hyper-competitive and unsupportive. All the teams I’ve been on where there’s been a much more even gender split just seem to work better - more efficient, collaborative and supportive.

It takes all kinds (where “kinds” is defined as loosely as possible), and if groups, who are otherwise completely “worthy” for inclusion, aren’t included in the fun, then there’s something wrong. I applaud anyone’s attempts to fix it.

Pixel Perfect Firefox Extension

Pixel Perfect Firefox Extension:
(via ratsonparade)

Profiles in Mileage: Irv Gordon, the 2.8 Million Mile Man | Autopia | Wired.com

Profiles in Mileage: Irv Gordon, the 2.8 Million Mile Man | Autopia | Wired.com:
I love this story.
