Seriously tempted to try to pull off our community calendar idea with Sinatra, MongoDB and jQuery (which, thankfully, doesn’t count against the 10k, which makes things a LOT easier).
I love this response. It’s pitch-perfect when presented with an old media idiot. The best response when presented with an idiot is not to try to shut them up. It’s to let them declare their stupidity from the rooftops and then happily point their lunacy out to them. Love it!
cuptocup asked: Hurray for Kevin following my tumblr! I guess that wasn't a question, was it? Oh, that one was.
You are correct. The first part was definitely not a question, but I’m happy you’re thrilled about it.
And for those of you who don’t know, James roasts the best coffee ever.
“‘No.’ That’s the first thing you’ve said in the last four hours. That’s, a fountain of conversation there, buddy. That’s a geyser.”
Great Showdowns is genius, and this is my favorite one yet. Smiley on the wood chipper? BRILLIANT!
I don’t know what I can add to this other than I’ve worked with brilliant women in dozens of disciplines throughout my career and think they’re more than equal to the men in the field - in many cases, more so.
I don’t have a problem with Google trying to get more equal representation at JSConf, or anywhere else. I applaud it. The homogenous nature of the tech world, especially in smaller niche communities, is disappointing. It becomes a boys club and is much more likely to become hyper-competitive and unsupportive. All the teams I’ve been on where there’s been a much more even gender split just seem to work better - more efficient, collaborative and supportive.
It takes all kinds (where “kinds” is defined as loosely as possible), and if groups, who are otherwise completely “worthy” for inclusion, aren’t included in the fun, then there’s something wrong. I applaud anyone’s attempts to fix it.
I love this story. This guy has put almost 3 million miles on his car and does all routine maintenance himself. I’m not sure why I love it, but I do. I almost got choked up reading it.
I love everyone!
Well, except for you, my friend,
because you’re a duck.
Letter to the Sun:
Stop it, you’re smothering me.
Back off, summer orb!
Yeah… another one.
Balloons under ice
do not float, but do not sink.
They are suspended.
I’ve taken up the challenge to make all of my Skype status messages either extremely cryptic or haikus. This is the first haiku and I liked it so much, well, here it is.
